Sleeping Giant Awakes

I am sorry to have to disagree but I do not see the right to have a job and NOT pay dues that can be spent in a manner with which I do not approve, as inequities to employment. (Now, the 4 members here and the 29 present can read this while the 151 guest meander elsewhere.)

AndyA it's okay if you disagree. It does not bother me that you disagree with my point of view, I disagree with some of yours too. We can have a discussion without agreeing, I think. Perhaps, you are reading the article too narrowly, though.

The inequities are not just about employment...the issue of the unions and collective bargaining has awakened many people to the thought that" if this can happen to the unions, then what else can happen?"...the big picture and the overall goal of the Republican governor is what has people in Wisconsin up in arms. ( especially when the Koch Brothers and GPS Crossroads are factored into the equation).

The union issue is just the spark that awakened "the giant" (the people in general).

Exactly! I have bemoaned the problems of some unions gaining/using their power in ways that would sometimes seem to make things less efficient, etc. but upon watching how things unfolded in Wisconsin, I could almost see myself heading up there to join their protest - and I am not by any means an activist. I see non-activist teacher friends posting on facebook now, who appear to be paying much more attention to what's going on elsewhere as well as here in TX than they likely did before.

The "sleeping giant" is inclusive of all parties and union and nonunion alike. It's a good thing imo because more people will become informed.

Civics Lesson: President Bush could have vetoed the legislation but he didn't because it was his idea. A bill does not become law until the President signs it.

Saying Bush opposed the bailouts is not true.

I never said that. Go back and re-read the posts again please.

I ain't got time to play.

President Bush supported the 2008 bailout of the financial system.

That is undeniable.

It's simply a complete misrepresentation to put the 2008 bailout on Democrats.

Both parties were involved. Give it a rest.

And I didn't deny that, and please take your own advice.

The giant is awake but must be kept from tiring out and going back to sleep.

In Washington, D.C. today an estimated 2,000 protesters marched on Koch Industries? Washington D.C. offices and attempted to give Charles and David Koch an invitation to come out and speak with the protesters. Not surprisingly, the building?s doors were locked and no one was allowed inside. However, a representative from the real estate company which managed the building told an handful of organizers who attempted to deliver the invitation, ?I?d be here with you guys if I wasn?t working right now.? Noting that he works for the building, not Koch, he said, ?I don?t want to be here.?

Answer me a simple question. Where are the protesters invading George Soro's industry use of his monies...Oh, I forgot. He got really rich by manipulating the currencies of countries much to the detriment of their citizens. Yes, the sleeping giant must be kept awake but it may not be the one you think it is. Is it just possible it is the sleeping giant called the "silent majority".

"Against all odds", Democrat JoAnne Kloppenburg appears to have unseated the incumbent Republican Wisconsin Supreme Court Justice Paul Prosser, by a margin of just 204 votes. Prosser is considered the swing vote on the court as of now. Looks like things are going to swing the other way.

Of course there will likely be a recount, but this would never had happened if it weren't for Wisconsin's Scott Walker, exposure of Koch Bros influence ($$), and their front organization, Americans for Prosperity.

The "sleeping giant" is awake! I think this will help keep the giant's eyes open.
