So I Wanted To Try Rock Climbing....

SJ...I agree with you completely. Life itself is full of risks, but what a selfish bast**d to continue that behavior with a child at home.

You may remember the story of the Dallas Dr. who was lost on Mt. Everest about 9 years ago. He was "hooked" on climbing and left his family often to pursue this obssession...the last time he was pronounced dead and then found. He lost his nose and most of his hands. His daughter was in my daughter's class and I was one of the class moms. We were just about to start calling our lists with news of his death when he was found frozen in the snow. He went on to write a book and make speeches across the country. Most of us thought him a fool and a selfish fool at that. Hard way to learn what's important.

Sorry to hear that. He WAS living a bit dangerously (Ya think). I feel really sorry for the little girl. What about the wife!!! I wouldn't be able to live with a person like that, I would have a heart attack.

He was no longer married at the time. Surprise.

Outside magazine did a very nice piece on him in '99. Guess he lives on in Internet videos.
