Going skiing early next year. I hit the Sports Barn this morning for a "Ski Prep Class" Haven't worked out in 6 months  . Trying not to :puke: right now
Oh Riv-O. I'm sure 40 suits you well. Congrats on the milestone! :clap_1:

RO- I'm in the same boat...I'm *approximately* the same age, ;-) , and my exercise regimen basically exists only when I travel...(city walks, Sowal bikes, mountain hikes)...then I go skiing once or twice a year AS IF I was an actual athlete! Should be a recipe for disaster, but I've never had trouble and can ski all day for a week... as long as I stay on the blue groomers! So I may not be cool on the slopes but I pack a lot of trail time in. I just have to be very alert to when the legs start giving out, because obviously that's the danger zone. And I'm actually considering a helmet this year for the first time, because I find I really like to get off the trails and cut my own tracks in the trees.

We're going to Steamboat at the end of January. Natural hot springs baby, can't wait!!!

Where are y'all going?

The first time you ski is always the hardest, because you tense up so much trying to stop. Take a lesson early, and it will help you relax and not get sore. ALso, HOT TUBS are not optional...will nix a lot of soreness if you take one every night.

As long as you ski the west and not the icy east coast, you'll be fine. SO much easier, and fluffier if you fall.

When I go skiing, I might as well go to the top of the tallest mountain, take off my skis, throw them and myself down the cliff. That's about the extent of my skills. Y'all ever been to Crested Butte? All the trails come into one steep one at the bottom and everybody watches you come in. :bang:

That orange netting at the bottom came in handy. I'm glad it was there.

:floor: I can totally picture it and totally relate too. I spent most of my last skiing trip in the lodge with a few hot bodies...I mean hot toddies.

I didn't even mention that whole "no air" thing. It feels like somebody is sitting on your chest the whole time. Did I mention that I really LOVE snow skiing?
