Excuse me but I do go down there from time to time and rent a place for a night or two. After all, I am a Republican and everyone in DFS knows what car I drive.

That's a choice to rent a room. You could always crash on someone's couch or drive home. ;-)

But if I rent the room, I pay a higher tax. Pretty typical of politicos, they tax those that can not vote for the most part.

Unless you find someone who doesn't pay or charge the bed tax, but I'm sure you're far to civic minded for that.

In a little over 2 months we will begin paying the "Southwest airlines" tax - you remember the tax we had to pass so Southwest would start service to the new PC airport. The tax that would seal the deal, the one Southwest was waiting on us to approve before announcing they were coming her, the tax that would bring low cost air travel to the area and fill up our hotels and condos, the tax that would save our local merchants and restaurants.

Guess what - they aren't coming - no announcement has been made. Now we begin charging the tax for nothing.

We were all hoodwinked. Hopefully it will be removed like we were told.

Can you site the press release that Southwest put out stating they were not coming to the PC airport now or in the near future.

Edit: Actually if you can site a source that states none of the low cost air carriers were coming that would be great too. IIRC the tax was to lure a low cost air carrier and not just Southwest exclusively.
