I have a very dear friend that is in the final stages of ovarian cancer. We've known each other since 4th grade. For those of you that know me, you know I'm talking a looooooong, long time. I try to visit as much as I can, I call and we chat if she's up to it, and I try and send her cards every week or so. As time has passed, none of the cards I have found no longer seem to fit what is really in my heart.
I bought a new book for my grandchildren last week. Yesterday five year old Camden asked me to sit and read it to him. Here I found the most simple, but perfect words. The name of the book is ",Wherever You Are My Love Will Find You" by Nancy Tillman.
In the green of the grass...in the smell of the sea...in the clouds floating by...at the top of the tree...in the sound crickets make at the end of the day...
"You are loved. You are loved. You are loved," they all say.
I think it is fitting on Valentines Day to remember the most important thing we can all do, is to let those you love know what is in your heart. Flowers and candy are nice. Sharing what is in your heart is the most simple and perfect gift of all.
