The off season in SoWal means cooler weather, thinner crowds, and more festivals than you can keep track of. Maybe it's an ancient survival instinct that causes us to crave steak this time of year. In SoWal we are fortunate to have excellent restaurants which offer awesome beef dishes. Here are some stellar selections in our latest SoWal List.

Pandora's of Grayton Beach

At Pandora’s of Grayton Beach, they grill steaks over an open, wood-burning pit. The popular eatery is famous for their Prime Rib Au Jus, which has a divine oak flavor and is perfectly seasoned. On Wednesdays and Sundays they feature a Prime Rib special for $14.95. Also try one of their delectable specials like seared Beef Tenderloin and Diver Scallops, served over a butternut squash smoked bacon risotto topped with a green peppercorn demi glace.

Restaurant Paradis

Located in Rosemary Beach, Restaurant Paradis serves up a mouth-watering filet that is skillet seared in duck fat. This masterful piece of meat is buttery and crisp and is served with roasted garlic Yukon Gold mash and broccolini topped with a black truffle demi glace. This is the type of dish you go back for time and time again.

Seagar's Prime Steaks & Seafood
Seagar’s was recently named Best Fine Dining and Most Romantic Restaurant by Emerald Coast Magazine’s Readers' Choice Poll for 2012 . The menu is renowned for quality cuts of meat, filet mignon, rib eye, porterhouse, New York strip and steak Diane. You'll discover a variety of preparations, including au poivre, topped with Maytag blue cheese and bacon and Oscar-or Rossini- style.

Marlin Grill
Marlin Grill’s wood-burning grill is used to cook all of their 28-day, dry-aged certified Angus steaks. The Hickory-Grilled Filet Mignon entrée is an apple wood bacon wrapped filet and is served on top of a red wine demi-glace, shoestring onion rings with béarnaise sauce on the side. Add jumbo lump crab meat for a tasty surf and turf experience. (top photo by Gina Yra)

I hear Fire has an excellent steak! It's a grilled 12 oz. NY strip topped with a cabernet- mushroom demi-glace and served with sweet potato “risotto” and tobacco onions. SO delicious!

LOVE to have steaks hand cut at Modica Market and grill them at home!

Also, Flemings is outstanding all the way around.

I've heard very good things about steak at Fish Out of Water AND Edwards.

Pandora's remains one of my faves!

The steak at Edward's IS delicious and some of the best frites in SoWal!

Local Catch has a great flat iron steak served with whiskey smoked caramelized onions, mashed potatoes, green beans and champagne poached crab meat. YUMMY!!

Cafe Thirty A hands down. Even the Bar Menu has an excellent steak. One can't go wrong especially, if you go between 5:00PM and 6:00PM. And then there is Martini nights!
