SoWal Noise Ordinance

I was at Smiling Fish this week meeting a lady who had been very active for a noise ordinance in Walton County. One was passed for South Walton but the northern commissioners did not support for the whole county. What are your thoughts on how the one is doing for the south end of the county and should it be extended for all of the county?

Re: Noise Ordinance

As I recall it was pointed out that there was not a problem in the north end and folks didn't want to place restrictions on existing businesses, farming equipment being mentioned.

I would be interested to hear if it has been enforced much in SoWal. Construction noise was the biggest complaint. But I think in most cases it is tolerated and contractors try to observe reasonable hours. Although it's hard to convince someone on vacation that 7 AM is a reasonable time to start hammering next door, especially where lots are small.

Re: Noise Ordinance

Why did we need one here? Was it a proactive decision? :idontno:

The loudest things I ever hear in Sowal are the military planes, motorcycles, and the #^$*#*%@ dog next door.

I thought it was the bars in Grayton and 331 causing the problem. The SO needed a law other than existing state law to enforce. Several were certified in the use of noise meters, then transferred north, and ce does not work on the weekends.

You obviously haven't heard my daughter's sound system. Riding in that car is like being in one of those massage chairs that vibrate.:floor:

Re: Noise Ordinance

the last 2 homes I've rented at the beach have been next to new construction......no prior warning was given by the rental agencies....no repeat business will be returned. one good benefit however was that I spent more time actually on the beach.

Uh, Bob. I guess you have figured out that your next trip to SoWal probably won't be quiet either, since you will be hanging with the wenches.

You're in luck! Virtually no construction going on right now!

I remember a year or so ago Code Enforcement was in the Blue Bar with noise meters, they looked like a bad ghostbusters movie.
Mamma let the boys play that rock-n-roll.
