public service announcement...if anyone is planning to travel up 331 to Freeport and points north, be aware that road construction, complete with one-lane traffic, is occurring at the intersection of County 3280 and 331, and extra time should be allowed. I don't know about northbound, but southbound traffic is currently (10:00 a.m. Tuesday) being delayed by approximately 45 minutes.

I think we need a new forum, Traffic Reports.

Thanks for the notice, ShallowsN. Are they paving that turning lane?

My half hour commute took an hour and a half today!

Made me feel like I was back in the ATL.

SJ, I think that's what they are doing.

I hear that northbound isn't bad, but I don't know if that will hold true after 3:00 or so when northbound traffic gets heavy.

Possible alternate route if you are southbound and traffic is backed up almost all the way to Freeport: Angle left on Old Jolly Bay Road; stay on Old Jolly Bay Road to 3280, right on 3280, left on Fluffy Landing Road, right on Jolly Bay Road to 331, just a little north of the bridge. Reverse route for northbound if it does back up.

Be advised that I don't know if all of these roads are paved, nor their condition...and cell phone reception may be dicey. ;-)

Does the construction stop on weekends in FL or continue as it does in TN?

We're driving south on 331 Saturday AM from Montgomery...(the last 3 hours of a 12 hour drive)....any suggestions on avoiding a long delay ???? We're just looking forward to hitting the beach as early as possible....sitting in traffic has been a way of life this summer in St. Louis...bridge/road construction at every major highway into St. Louis!!!!

Co-workers from DeFuniak report that it's been smooth sailing the last few days, so there may not be anything to worry about. Evidently DOT got several phone calls after the BIG jam the other day.
