Our 3 year old grandson, Henry, "called" tonight. He told us all about the storm they'd experienced the night before...lightning and THUNDER. He was "concerned". I remembered my Mom reassuring us kids about big thunder storms when we were little. She'd go out onto our screened-in front porch and we'd crowd in BEHIND her watching the lightning and listening to the thunderous booms. She'd say things like "Wow, that was a beauty!" and "Listen to that Boom!" It took the fear out of it for us. I said to Henry, "It's just like having fireworks in your own back yard, isn't it, Henry?" He reluctantly said "Yes." What a little sweetheart. Then Jeffrey, (our 1 1/2 year old grandbaby) got on the phone and said something that sounded to me like "#%^MDNSdndjnd." I'm sure it was all good  They're coming for a visit next week. I can hardly wait!

Aww, how cute! Three year olds are soooo funny! Especially when they use big words. I did the same thing with my kids and storms...we admired them! So many kids are afraid of bad weather. Both mine come home from school with stories of how so and so freaked out and hid under the his desk or had to be calmed down during a storm. I'm taking about 3rd and even 6th graders! So you are doing a good thing reassuring your little guy.

Have funn next week!!!

Awww OL, you're a kindred spirit. Thanks for the good wishes  I love your pancake bunny!

Thanks, he comes out for special occasions. This week being my 2000th. Almost ready to go into hiding as soon as I find a suitable replacement. ;-)

Hello to Henry!!!

i love talking to little kids like my sister/nephew. you never know what he's gonna say. like the other night he said "there was something big and mean in my bedroom last night" and when i asked him what it was he said "my mom"

How sweet whitesands.....I can remember my daddy being so excited when my son would talk to him on the phone! Now he is 13 and it is hard to get him to say anything!!!!

Thank you all...

Awww, I'll give him your regards, Ms. Kitty.

Audie... :floor: :floor: :floor:

I think I know what you're saying too, kathydwells...we'll enjoy our grandbabies as long as we can. All too soon, they'll be very busy...when I think back to when our son (an only) was very young...we were always busy...careers, designing and supervising our home being built, etc., etc. Wish I knew then what I know now

What a cute story  I have a little three year old neighbor girl that sings "burning ring of fire" by Johnny Cash......it would melt your heart! love the ways she talks
