so that's Dread Clampitt. Saw them at the Red Bar a couple of years ago and loved them but never put the name with the face. Boy, I gotta get out more often.
I saw them at the Red Bar the Sunday I was there for Spring Break..would have loved to have seen them again...but they were in Atlanta Thurs. night of that week. I enjoyed them so much! Dread means the beach for many of us!!!:clap_1:

I'm just glad to know who they are so that I can check them out when they're here. Sounds like they get around. I knew they'd be famous. they're great! :clap_1:

just rolled in the door. tried to make the whole trip home last night, but no go. stayed at MM 162 rest area last night. highly recommended by those in the know. saw kyle's mom there but she wasn't staying, just grabbing a coke and a smile. good thing about MM 162 is, the truck and car areas are physically seperated a good bit, so you don't have to listen to the diesels all night.

anyway, DC palyed the old florida stage on saturday night exactly against the rowan/rice set at mainstage. i stayed at mainstage, but had a machine over at old florida, apparently a great set.

saturday and sunday were glorious during the day, with great music and visiting with new and old friends. cold as all getout overnight. getting up at 6 after 1:30-2 am nights is no treat, what with the cold. carrying my mic stand over reminded me of colorado mornings. the coffee shop now opens at 7:30. 2 eggs, potatoes, bacon, toast, and coffee, $4.25. best deal anywhere, except vegas. tha access point i used to post with is bungee'd to the top of the country store.

anyway, again, DC played the closing set last night, which typically turns into the clusterjam. the first half of the set was classic Dread with the introduction of a new song(at least to me) about coming home to the spanish moss on the live oaks, seemingly born while touring. a very sweet, slower song. when i listen to the show again, i can report more. the second half had guests joining, randy judy, the promoter, on a djembe, the rev. jeff mosier on banjo, and jim lauderdale on guitar. a series of round robin tunes ensued, with everyone getting a bunch of solos. many photos were taken, so you'll get the picture  lauderdale leaves and who walks out but peter rowan, red himself. i turn to joey, who's fiddling, face down, with his gear and say, "time for some more pics"

rowan, and the boys with guests have a grand old time, with peter and balder trading licks on the mandos. great crowd with lost of dancing, dust, hootin' and hollerin'. i packed up my gear, went backstage to congratulate the boys, had a quick bite to eat, and hit the road, where even a cup of joe only got me to MM 162.

pics to follow...

JR--tell me her last name again. I want to check out her music and "show" her to my daughter, who has the first name in common.
