I regret to announce that "Stephen Robbins" an avid surfer / ESA NGFL Competitor & Volunteer / a Good Friend & Brother in Christ passed away this past Saturday (7/8/06) due to a heart attack. Stephen was 46 years old.
Stephen was an inspiration at all our ESA NGFL surf events. He thoroughly enjoyed the competition (MASTERS Shortboard & MASTERS LB), as well as, the comaraderie on the beach & in the water. Stephen was also one of the few surfers in our district who consistently qualified & surfed in the Southeast Regional Championships & Eastern Surfing Championships representing the Gulf Coast every year in the past eight (8) years since I became the District Director. Stephen was always eager to volunteer & give time to helping judge at every contest & was a true asset at many of our local events. He always was so stoked & his enthsuiasm was contagious. I loved being around him & seeing him at all our events.
Stephen leaves behind two beautiful boys both skilled surfers (Stephen Jr.- 14yrs. old & Mitchell-10yrs. old), & he loved sharing his stoke & the surfing lifestyle with them.
Stephen will truly be missed & leaves a void on the beach & in the water that very few can fill. Stephen was a dedicated Christian & always shared his relationship with the Lord with those he met.

Stephen, "We will miss you, but we know you are at home with Christ catching waves and smiling down on us all with that true ALOHA Spirit."
So with that said, I ask that you keep Stephen's family in your prayers, & catch a wave for Stephen next time you are out in the line-up.

I would hope he just surfed away... leaving while riding the big one with his family all around him......

Very Sad, Very young...... I'm sure he will be greatly missed......

He really was a great guy. I got to surf with him quite a bit lately. We are all just shocked at how this could have happened. He really loved those boys. My prayers go out to them.

Yes, sad news. He was so young. My sympathies to the friends and family of Stephen Robbins.
