Which program did you use to download? I have used limewire for free songs.

Here is what I do:

1) Open iTunes and then click File, then click add file to library.

2) The above steps should open your shared folder from your other source.

3) Then simply click on the songs that you want to put into iTunes by scrolling through your shared folder.
