so you're listening, yes? so you've figured out how to open the url in winamp, good.

I have not yet figured out how to navigate the site. Where are these taper threads of 9999,9998,9997 etc?

those numbers are the ports assigned on the servers to stream, so right now 9995 is streaming YMSB. i think the other one's are idle at present.

basically, there are three sites involved, sort of:
1. www.tapers.org a bb like this one for taper geeks, mainly to announce shows via .txt files of what's on the servers.

2. tapers.org ftp site, the servers that host the above mentioned shows available for download via an ftp client > www.smartftp.com


3. www.shoutcast.com we use their shell and software to stream the signal from our servers


for those that need to know how to listen.
1. you will need http://www.winamp.com/
2. once loaded, open it, then right click and go to PLAY.
3. click on URL, a window will open
4. insert URL in window, stream should start, you may need to press play

John, FYI - I am using RealPlayer as my choice of device to listen through. I simply go to your link, click on listen in menu bar at top, then for listening program, I browse through my puter and click on Real Player, and wallah! I am in and listening.

I stopped for the moment to see what the pres is promoting.

all they need to do is click the link. I hear other players are working as
well.

This is where that 100 meg connection is gonna really pay off. After I reset
the server tonight, the cap will be set at 500 listeners per stream. We'll
see how that goes, but by my math we will be way under having any effect on
ftp service at that level.

John, the volume is very low on this Sam Bush. Did you change the settings or is it due to the recording?


Edit: I clicked on Paul's, so it may be something else totally. It doesn't sound like the Sam Bush I am thinking of -- more like Jethro Tull.
