I bet BR just writes a computer program to solve them. :funn:
Jesus, I've written solutions in Python, Java, Visual Basic, and Excel. Now I'm trying to perfect them. LOLOL. I've assigned problems to my Quantitative Reasoning class.

And did I say that Joakim is the man? :funn:

Well, no, that's the beauty of these puzzles. You don't need a computer. Unlike crossword puzzles where language alone can stymy your efforts, these puzzles rely on numbers. There's no way to give a synonym for a number. The number either fits or it doesn't. It's completly unbendable in its solution. Logic rules, hand in hand with patience. Endless patience *sometimes*
Not exactly true. For easier puzzles, you can always find a cell which has a unique solution, and that cascades into other cells with a similar conclusion. However, for the harder puzzles, many cells have multiple possible solutions. Then if you chose one over the other and it ends up wrong, you have to backtrack and remember what you've changed based on the original false assumption. If your thinking isn't systematic, you end up in spaghetti code. Or clawing your eyeballs out.

As I said, "patience, endless patience." ;-)

His latest version is the SudokuSolver. It's safe. He's a total purist who just loves to think and share his knowledge; he's definitely not a hacker, although he has the knowledge to do so. He's finishing up his Ph.D. dissertation at Auburn.

BTW Sudokus are so hot that I know people who are giving Sudoku books for Christmas gifts.
Yes, my husband LOVES those sudoku's. Does all the different levels, has several books, takes them on the train, etc. He's definately addicted.

BTW, who's that in your 'tar? Adorable!

That's my beautiful, blonde-headed nephew from Dallas whose parents own a home near my home in Seagrove. Not to offend my sister (in case she's on the board tonight), but her other son is a beautiful, too. I just love this "in your face" picture that she took of her younger child.

BTW her TX license plate says GOGATORS, too. Tri-Delta.

Angel gull! You're going to teach me kayaking? Then I'll "teach" you sudokuing! :lolabove: Seriously, this is great. Jdarg told me she loves kayaking on Western Lake and that we'd go when we're at the beach in June. So if you teach me how to do it, I'll be set for June! :clap_1: (This is my mantra: if I can have the patience for grids of numbers, then I will have the patience for small craft with big paddles.)
