Congratulations!! Way to Go, South Walton Seahawks. The student athletes and coaches are to be commended.

Unfortunately, the SWHS Seahawk Girls' Soccer 2009/10 Season ended tonight, in a 3-1 loss to Rocky Bayou Christian.

BUT, I am sure we could all not be prouder of a team that has literally had a historic season making it to the Regional Semi-Finals and only three matches from playing for the State Championship.

The bar has certainly been raised, and as young as this team is, everyone should continue to stay tuned in to what is happening with Girls' Soccer in South Walton!

YEEEEESSSSSS!!!!!

South Walton Seahawks Boys Soccer ran riot on the Freeport Bulldogs to the tune of a 4-1 thrashing at Seahawks Stadium. Wade Howard and Jose' Flores, both US98 Soccer Alumnus, opened their Regional Playoffs accounts with one goal a piece, while Lalo (apologize for spelling) had a brace to add two goals to the final tally.

The Seahawks now prepare for District Finalists Port St. Joe on Tuesday night at 7:00PM. South Walton claimed their District Championship with a smash and grab 3-2 final at Port St. Joe only a week ago.

COOOOOMME OOONNNNN YOUUUUUU 'HAAAAAWKSSS!!!!

The Seahawks tried to come back. Seahawk Striker and US98 Soccer Alum, Jose' Flores, scored a goal with 1 minute left in regulation to send them into overtime against Port St. Joe in this Regional Semi-Final.

Apparently they decided on a "golden goal", sudden death format, when typically there are two halves to the overtime. It did not work in Our favor.

Port St. Joe took advantage of some hesitation on behalf of the keeper and slotted it past him for the end to a very good season. This team, and the girls team, will be improving quite a bit over the next few years and beyond. Keep an eye on them and get out and show your support!

That said, if you were a player on either the boys or girls team, don't get rusty! We've extended the Spring 2010 World Cup Recreational Soccer Season Registration Deadline until this Sunday, February 14th.

The State Championship may have been out of your grasp this season, but a World Cup Championship and World Cup Replica Trophy are not!
