where is Carousel Market? I've always heard of it, but have never made it there.

Front Beach Road in Laguna Beach. Best wine shop in SoWal area. Better hurry though, I have been told the place is slated to become the site of a(nother) high rise.

I missed this thread first time around (no laptop yet)! I agree Mermaid...I kept driving and driving...but it was worth ONE trip! Got me some more fashion threads...TARGET CHIC!!! Why is it that when you are in Destin, you can't wait to get back to 30-A??? I know, silly question...

Because any time you're in a place that was only really designed to handle about 1/4 of the people who are actually there, it creates a rather tense and low level irritating experience. Too much traffic driving erratically on not enough roadway makes for a cranky mouse.

I like Whole Foods fine, but Trader Joe's down there would really be something to get excited about! :clap_1:

Whole Foods too?? My son-in-law calls it "whole paycheck". We love the produce there, and the soups, breads,......well, everything.

Oh, I was trying to remember who had said this when we talked about it before--I still chuckle about that one, Nancy! I love it.

There's a sign up for the new grocery store that's going to show up next to Destin Home Depot- not a Whole Foods, but something called Fresh Market- http://www.freshmarket.com/index.htm which still sounds like it has interesting possibilities. I'm not familiar with the chain. Can anyone tell me about it?

There's a Fresh Market in Chattanooga. My son worked there and at the one in Knoxville while in college. I think you will like it. Great meat dept., coffee, fresh flowers, produce.

Our Fresh Market is not as big as the Whole Foods, but I like the atmosphere much better. The lighting is not glaringly bright, classical music plays while you shop, and I can run in quickly and pick up dinner stuff or milk. Good meat and nice desserts if you don't have time to bake something. Plus they carry my favorite butter-Plugra. Real butter w/no water added! I could eat it like ice cream (is there a smilie w/tongue hanging out?)

Absolutely agree. They have a man who does nothing but make fresh sushi all day, and a cheesecake that is flown in from New York. Fresh seafood daily and great chicken salad and other deli items. I've never been to or even seen a Whole Foods, so I can't compare to it.
