Sixty-four senators call on Obama to take up tax and entitlement reform
By Erik Wasson - 03/18/11 11:27 AM ET

President Obama came under new pressure Friday to broaden talks about government spending to include tax and entitlement reform.

Sixty-four senators ? 32 Democrats and 32 Republicans ? called for the expanded talks in a letter to Obama.

The letter was circulated by Sens. Mike Johanns (R-Neb.) and Michael Bennet (D-Colo.), who were able to get a supermajority of the Senate within 24 hours. It urges Obama to "engage in a broader discussion about a comprehensive deficit-reduction package."

The biggest driver for the federal budet is Medicare.

Either taxes go up, benefits get reduced or current beneficiaries pay more.

Painless solutions don't exist ands the situation demands political courage.

Well if that's the case we're all screwed.

Think about it, that is the platform they run on every election cycle, but in the end we find that it was all being said to get elected. I don't necessarily think we are all screwed. I think this is a cycle that we seem to go through. Seriously, if we think lowering the tax rate for all is the answer then we are screwed, but if we continue to give American companies tax benefits for moving their operations overseas so they can maximise their profits without paying for it, then we are kidding ourselves. I wish I could find a reasonable priced pair or underwear not made someplace that has a minimum wage of less than a dollar a day, if you get my drift.

Don't know much about your undie preferences, but Hanes makes cloth for their underwear in the USA and sews it in the USA, Jamaica, and Mexico.

They also have a new green line that uses recycled water bottles for its polyester.
