Tax on a taxpaying Government worker

New posts
Except for the Tea Party

When I agree with them. So you are not for balanced, responsible government budgets? Spending government funds on proper government expenditures? Lowing taxes so our people can purchase goods and services and jobs can be created? If so, please explain what you would cut. Or are you only protecting your piece of teh pie and to h*** with the country and our children and grandchildren?

Except for the Tea Party
The Tea Party is not an organized political group like the Democrats and Republicans. It is a widely deversifyed group of citizens who believe in smaller government, less spending, state's rights and the Constitution being followed. I am a member and like Idlewind, I do not agree with what you are complaining about. A tax on one particular group that doesn't directly go to that group is wrong. That said, it is fine for you to pay dues to your union if you so wish. It is not fine for those who do not wish to do so to be forced to do so. Everyone should be entitled to apply for a job and work if they are the most qualified for a job. Its called "right to work" and I am a strong proponent for it. A closed shop is unfair and should have been outlawed long ago once unions served their major purpose which was to make sure workers received a fair shake. Now it is the stock holders that deserve that fair shake, and whether you want to admit it or not, your union leaders make far more in wages than you do and do very little to earn them except create trouble for all. Trumpka is a perfect example, IMO.

All of you who are so proud to be against unions and the"free ride" of government workers should place a sign stating such in your yard right next to your Tea Party sign.

I consider myself a "tea party individual" and if you have read my posts you will see that I stated I was against it and thought the employees were being ripped off. You might get farther with your issues if you will concentrate on the facts and stop demonizing groups of people.

You are 100% correct, the Tea Party is not pushing the agenda, again I am sorry my opinion has upset you. I will endeavor to send you my post personally for your review. I beg you to forgive my independent thought and allow me to be more like you, Andy and 30a so I don't offend you all. Really, it upsets me to no end that I have offended you because we disagree on your veiws.

That being said, there are those on this board that see things differently, that is why I am here. All represent their view and if they don't agree with mine, they have a right to be wrong (JOKING), but I don't hold it against them personally. I put my real name out there because I felt I should represent my views in the open.
For the record, I support smaller government, but who decides what is big, the politicians. I disagree that education should be on the chopping block, because the future is going through it. I agree changes needs to be made in education, but politicians are making those changes. Marti Coley who was/ is a Teacher said she was trying to help make those changes, but she, Brad Drake and Greg Evers voted the party line because they don't represent the people that elected them, IMO, but the leadership who give them leadership post, nicer offices, comittee assignments, covered parking and allow their bills to move through the different comittees. I believe my UNION is under attack, I believe the Tea Party is more than a group of people with a goal in mind, I believe that that people who feel that Unions have served there purpose are wrong, and that if we were not here we would take major steps backward with regards to safe working conditions, wages and benefits. I believe that most on this board who oppose Unions have never been represented by a Union, are retired from someplace that paid State Income Tax and are retired or Semi retired and pay less in taxes here than if they lived in their former place of residence. That does not mean that I don't respect their views, it just means that I disagree with them. When I hear or read the term RINO, I wonder why they are not running. I choose to be involved in the process by visiting Tallahasse and occassionally a commissioner when I need to ask a question. As a Union Representative I have only 1 issue and I represent that issue. As a voter I have many issues and I address those also. This board is just one place that I can and do both.

Now if my opinions bother you then that is good, because hopefully it makes you think, because many of you bring good points that make me think. Sometimes I may soften my stance or take a harder line but that is my right. Have a good day, REALLY:wave:

Florida is a Right to Work State, no one is forced to join a UNION and we even have some that chose not to where I work. They pay no dues but reap all the benefits except representation unless it affect the the Unions interest. They have a right to vote on the contract that is negotiated. Now when I was a kid back in Missouri, there was a Statewide vote. The vote was to determine whether the State was going to be a Right To Work State or a Closed Shop State. I don't know what the outcome of the vote was, but I would venture it was what the will of those who voted wanted it to be. Oh in spite of all that, my membership at my employment is over 90% Union. The Florida Professional Firefighters represent over 20,000 Firefighter, Paramedics, EMT's and Dispatchers.

It seems we have lowered taxes at the federal level for years for corporations and the rich and we keep sending jobs oversea. Before you blame Unions according the numbers I have seen, Union membership is about 12%. http://www.bls.gov/news.release/union2.nr0.htm

Just to be straight, I don't blame unions anymore than I blame corporations, individuals and other organizations for our problems. And I blame politicians more than any of them. I also blame myself for not doing more to stop this stuff. We have all ate at the public trough and have all contributed to the problems we face. I really don't worry as much about whose fault things are as much as I look at who is trying to fix things and who is being obstructionists.

As to one of your other posts:

Come off your high horse man, I am not "upset" by your opinion and have no need to review it. But the things you project on us might just be a reflection of yourself and your attitudes.
