Sound like some folks are coming to their senses in D.C.

Eric Baynor and Mitch McConnel's constipation problem has just worsened with this news!

They have already pledged to block it from coming to a vote in the senate. It's merely a slight embarrassment for a party that really doesn't have a consceince anyway.

Conscience or not its dead when it hits the Senate.

So, it's doesn't matter to you whether it is good or just legislation, only that the Republicants block another bill. What happens when the real deficit reducing bills hit the hill next year? Nothing? That's what I thought.

Nanci apparently didn't learn anything from the drubbing her party took this last election, namly that people are sick and tired of seeing liberal dems shove bills through congress on partisan votes. She could have brought a bill to the floor that would pass both the house and the senate.. but alas, she isn't interested in passing legislation, she's just looking for brownie points with progressives.

I am so very very happy the 2010 congressional term is about to come to an end, the country will be better off.

Team Blue versus Team Red aside, what is SO wrong with this bill?

Does it have zero merit?

We are all worried about the deficit and the economy.

IMO we can't afford tax cuts for all, but I do worry about the added economic burden to low earners, so I think this is okay FOR NOW.

And kudos to the 23 Congressmen and women who had the guts to vote against their party on the issue. (20 dem, 3 repub)

Here's the latest from The Hill
Democrats are expected to discuss a plan to hold test votes on several tax proposals.

One proposal would be to extend the Bush tax cuts only for families earning less than $250,000; the second, sponsored by Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-N.Y.), would extend tax rates only for families earning less than $1 million; a third proposal sponsored by Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell (Ky.) would extend rates for all tax brackets.

Each of the three measures is expected to attract fewer than the 60 votes needed to overcome procedural hurdles.

Lawmakers are then expected to vote on a fourth proposal put together by Treasury Secretary Timothy Geithner, White House budget director Jack Lew and four congressional negotiators. They are considering a tentative deal that would extend all of the Bush tax cuts for only two years and extend federal unemployment insurance for a year, according to congressional sources.

Hmm this could be good, I'm guessing under Geithner's proposal we won't have to pay any taxes at all. That's the way he rolls. :D
