Beach Comber
Our first Walton County Earth Day event was a success!! We had many interactive and educational booths, many childrens events, cooking demonstrations, and live music. Visitors we able to enjoy a variety of activities and educational opportunities while having fun on a beautiful day!! I appreciate everyone who came out to the festival, we had just under 500 participants!! I would like to thank our bands who participated, the music was wonderful!! Forrest Williams band graciously organized all the music for the day. Yoshi from Harbor Docks put on a great Suchi demonstration and I hear rave reviews on the Vegetarian Delight by Jamie Dietrich. Smoothies were made by Walton County 4-H and kids made pizza. All of the demonstrations were organized by Kendra Z. my co-worker here at the extension office. The storytelling by Paul Lowery and Doris Mueller was fabulous and loved by all the kids, as well as the wonderful puppet show by Leda Suydan and her volunteers. Jambones came out as well and provided some delicious food.
I am so proud of all of the volunteers and the Friends at Topsail Hill Preserve for assisting in event operations on Saturday. Our sponsors were UF/IFAS Walton County Extension Office, Friends at Topsail Hill Preserve, Northwest Florida State College, Off the Vine, Publix, Okaloosa Saves, Flowers Bakery, Ocean Potion, and Spirit Sales. Reddi Ice and Accent Signs provided in-kind and discounts as well.
The event was wonderful and I appreciate everyone's support and participation. I look forward to a great event in the future as well.
