The turkey- this was the first year for brining. OMG. Juiciest turkey EVER!!! We will brine very turkey we make from now on. Even my mother admitted it was better than hers!

Bdarg makes a mean pumpkin pie too.

the cornbread dressing was especially good this year:clap_1:

What worked: Brining the turkey worked really well, very moist. Used Williams-Sonoma brining mix and a garbage bag to soak for about 18 hours.

What didn't work: Oyster dressing from Destin Ice. I was going to make my own but wife pre-empted me and purchased prepared dressing at Destin Ice. A definite non-starter.

We did get fresh Pompano from DI that was great- prepared both en papillotte and also blackend.

Cornbread dressing, gravy and turkey (brined)...yummy!! :clap_1: Mr. K just went outside and made smores for the chillren.

cornbread dressing, pumpkin cake, and cranberry margaritas. :clap_1:

Chocolate-pecan pie (thank you Beachrunner:wub:)
Also a big hit was Tootsie's corn casserole! Next time I'll double the recipe! Everyone must try this!

And the worst dish - - the "stuffing." My god, that was so horrible and sticky. Just pure white bread. But this was an in-law's house, so what can I say...

Hands down, the pumpkin cheesecake served with a delicious cup of hot coffee. The table conversation was pretty good, too. :clap_1:
