We used to go camping all of the time when the kids were young. We used to tent camp almost every other weekend in the summer. Once the got older and got more involved in activities we didn't have time. Once they were in high school we started going on family vacations to the beach and ended up in SoWal. All of our children and grandchildren love the beaches there.

We did tent camping too!! Always had a blast. My kids are at the "involved in activities" stage, so not much camping going on around here. We do make our annual Sowal trip though. Would not miss that!!! :D

DD, I am cooking ribs this weekend for my son Mike's birthday. We will have ribs and twice baked potatoes and watermelon. I realy don't mind talking to myself, it is when I answer myself that I get worried. I usually answer with the wrong answer so there is internal conflict.

:floor:I hear ya!!
Menu sounds good. Although you'd have to take the ribs off the bone for me. (It's a whole other thread...)
Mr. DD loves twice baked.
You've just made me hungry for watermelon.
Think I'll stop on the way home.
Do you like red, yellow or orange?

Kish, I am impressed with your post count and your cooking abilities! I might have some ribs this weekend, too.

P.S. I talk to myself all the time.

DD, I have only ever had red watermelon. I have never tried any other color. I usually cook babyback ribs and then some western ribis that are boneless. I personally like the babyback but Patty likes the western so we compromise and have both. I make my own sauce starting with openpit and then add some secret ingredients. I joke with the kids and tell them when they learn to cook I will give them the scoop.

Lynnie, the count is getting up there, I am surprised, thanks for all of the help. Between you and DD and COS I am on a roll.:rofl:

You tell 'em KISH. Neither one of my kids really cooks. On holidays, they always just think..."we'll go to Mom's". Wonder what they're gonna do when one day Mom's not home.
Red's my favorite watermelon, but here in Texas, we do have lots of yellow and orange too. I think red's the sweetest.
The boneless ribs sound delish..wish I had some. I've had cereal the last two nights for dinner. Might really break out tonight and have something adventurous like grilled chicken. Joy.
Let's see....what else? It's hot and steamy here in Big D. No rain in sight.
I'm going to be the only department head at my work tomorrow since all the other bad turds are taking off Friday AND Monday.
I've moaned and whined enough. Maybe I'll drink now.
KISH, do you have a cocktail from time to time? If so, what kind?

Now, Y'all I am from the South, but I must admit however that I've never seen a yellow or orange watermelon. The only yellow is the side of the green rind sitting on the earth. Can Y'all explain the seedless thing? I mean, there's something kinda' special and kid-like spittin' watermelon seeds out......or, like Granny always did, place your slice on a plate and gently remove seeds with a butter knife.

Ever cut a hole in one and pour vodka in it?

LuLu, maybe it's a Texas thing. My grandfather always loved "yellow meat" watermelons. Orange is not so common, but I seem to remember they had all three a couple of years ago when I stopped to get one for Kurt in East Texas. I think the seedless thing is just a misnomer...there really are little seeds in there, they're just not fully developed. At least that's my theory. I'm sure someone will tell you the real scoop.
Yep, done the vodka thing many times back in the day.
