So I get a brand new car for Christmas yesterday, a 2006 GMC Envoy, all nice and shiny, just what I wanted. Well on my way to the mall today some brat in mommy's Lexus slams into my rear and gouges my rear bumper and crumples the hood on his mom's Lexus. So I immediatley went to the dealership got an estimate for a new bumper and trailer hitch--$2211.62. Fax, call, email, meet adjusters, and then I finally made it to the mall where I just walked around for hours in a daze detoxing from my experience and the shock of having that done to my new vehicle. All is well now though the car will go in for a new bumper on Monday morning and I will then be a happy camper. Hey, at least the car is broken in now and no one was hurt right?

Have a Merry Christmas this weekend everyone!

EDIT: No one was physically hurt, but I did feel like saying something that some people have never heard before, so there was the potential there for emotional degradation.

Oh, that is terrible! :( Sorry about your new car. I am just dumbfounded on the traffic and the way people are driving right now. We were out today and I would have to say if it wasn't for my defensive driving we could have been hit at least 2 times. No kidding.

I have seen more wrecks in and around my neighborhood and zone this week than I have seen in an entire year! People are driving too fast and are thinking about something other than driving..... It is crazy out there! Be carefull!!! Defensive driving is the only way! Merry Christmas!

I guess receiving a bumperless and slighted damaged new car for Christmas is better than receiving a lump of coal, but that still bites the big one.

I for one, am glad to see very little traffic in SoWal. I would lose it in Atlanta, or most any other city in America. That Mall traffic makes me want to :bicycle:

Sorry about that, bsmart. Young drivers are the worse for damaging cars (I should know about that; my car now sports more creative "road work" than Hillbilly Jed Clampitt's car ever did, and I refuse to get a new one as long as I have teens under my roof). Isn't it boggling what it costs to repair cars?

They'll fix up your car as good as new, don't worry.

Oh bsmart...your new car got a bang bang! I always look for that first scratch in a way...takes the edge off! The hitter has insurance, right? They will fix it up like new and you'll never know!!! Thank goodness no one was hurt...except I hope the Lexus driver gets no more car time...that'll hurt!

Be strong, bsmart!

i have been having the inkling to get another sports car and your story is the main thing stopping me - all the other idiot drivers.

You're right about that, bsmart, though I know it was still such an awful thing to have happen! Hope the car soon looks good as new.
And, wow, what a Christmas present!

Gosh, I am sorry to hear about the accident to your new car. It just makes you sick anytime that happens, but especially so soon!!!
Just try to have a great Christmas though!
