Is it toys or stuffed animals or either? :idontno:

Hi all! I did the interview with Padgett's mom for the daily. She said small, stuffed animals and donations of postage are needed. The stuffies can be "previously loved" as she put it.
Tim used to give the toys out to the kids at the clinics that he and his team set up over in Afghanistan.
You guys are grayt!
Let me know if I can help you out.

Skunky this is great -- thanks ladyj for the info. I'd be happy to send a cash donation and get my boys to select one of their stuffed animals (good condition  ) to give as a gift to the children. Just let us know where to send things.

What a great idea!!!

My PM box overfloweth, but we can do more...thanks everyone! I will give concrete instruction on who, what, when and where soon!

Here is the latest word. I spoke with John Bunnicelli with the South Walton Firefighters yesterday and he told me there are a few things going on to honor Sgt. Padgett's memory. As we had planned before, there will be a toy drive limited to small stuffed animals to send to Afghanistan. These can be purchased and dropped off at any firehouse. Additionally, a fund has been established to aid Padgett's widow and 8 year old daughter, Summer, and donations to this will be gratefully accepted. If you want to support this cause, please mail a check made out to South Walton Professional Firefighters Association and in the memo note it is for the Padgett family. Mail them to SWPFFA PO Box 6724, Miramar Beach, Fl 32550.

If you want to make somebody sweat a bit and support the cause, there will be a carwash to raise funds for the fund May 25 and 26 from 10AM to 3PM at the Winn Dixie in Destin (where Hwy 98 and old Hwy 98 split on the western end). Also, they will happily accept stuffed animals at the carwash if you want to go that route.

Now, if you REALLY want to support the cause, Mr Bunnicelli told me that tomorrow's carwash will be in need of washers! It seems another fireman passed away and his funeral is at the same time, so they need volunteers to help wash cars. I am willing to go get soapy for a good cause, anybody else want to help?

In summary, ways to honor a fallen hero are:
Send a financial gift to the address above for Sgt. Padgett's family.

Buy a stuffed animal and drop it off at any Walton firehouse.

Come to the carwash tommorow or Saturday and buy a wash or donate a toy or financially.

Come to the carwash Friday May 25 and help wash cars!
