Tropical Storm Gaston tracking towards Cuba

New posts
If this were true, wouldn't there be a hurricane following me from my house to Ace Hardware, back to my house, over to the sprinkler system, back to my office, over to the post office, back to my office, over to a meeting in Ft. Walton, back to my office....

Looks like Tropical Storm Gaston is headed to Cuba, then into the Gulf. Gaston is expected to be a Category 2 Hurricane in 5 days. No idea if we will be in danger. If it does come this way, looks to be to be ~2 weeks away, but may pickup speed.

Sure enough - [ame="http://www.google.com/search?q=Hurricanes+Following+Same+Path+Of+Slave+Ships&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-US:official&client=firefox-a"]plenty of Google results[/ame].

Great- now the Gaston song from Beauty and the Beast is today's earworm.

"No one's slick like Gaston no one's quick like Gaston"....

"...Assuming Gaston can fight off the dry air--which seems likely, given the low shear--the storm should be able to intensify into a hurricane by Sunday, as predicted by the many of the intensity models. Gaston appears likely to threaten the Lesser Antilles Islands as early as Tuesday. Historically, 25% of all tropical cyclones at Gaston's current position have gone on to hit the U.S. East Coast." There is another disturbance off of Africa that is also being monitored. Yikes!
