Upcoming SoWal visit

While I've been a SoWal vacationer for years (and a lurker on this board for much of that time!), I'm making my first off-season visit next week and can't wait! Just look for advice from locals on things to do during the off-season or to be aware of. I'm guessing hours are different for many restaurants, but I'm hoping all of my favorites are open

I'm also bringing 2 friends who are new to the area, so very excited to show them one of my very favorite places!

We're walking Seaside. Drove to Silver Sands (coupon book), drove through Grand Boulevard, walked Seaside, ate at Cafe 30A for the first time (2 for 1 entrees 5:00-6:00 cost us $100; ate at Great Southern; been to Bud & Alleys twice; Modica Market twice; walked the beach. With the weather warming up, we will be riding our bikes and walking more. Peaked in at Fish out of Water for a future meal - maybe breakfast; checked in at the wine bar (for the beer list) at Watercolor. Did a little shopping for gifts for the new year. If you can't find something to do here - even in cold weather - you should go somewhere else Ellen

Thanks! I'm really looking forward to being back for a week!
Also, I'm driving in from Atlanta (I normally fly) -- any tips on the best route from Atlanta? I know many people on this board travel from that direction!
