Beach Crab
We used to visit Seagrove and Grayton every year for summer vacation until it got to be so crowded it was no longer appealing to us. We have been going to St George Island now since 2005 and have really enjoyed the peace and quiet.

My question is has the area slowed down any or will i be totally shocked and disgusted by the crowds and growth?

Don't take this wrong, if that's what you go to the beach for then great but we want to go to relax.

Thanks! And we do miss the area, just not the crowds.

Yes, the crowds might be a little bigger, but you know what, it doesn't bother me in the least. You make of what you will while you are there. I never have trouble relaxing while I am there. It is what it is. If you love the area then I think you should come back. I have seen a lot of growth in the last 10 years, but not so much that it is going to stop me from going to the place I love so much. Now, I pretty much park it when I get there albeit a couple meals out for the week that I am there, but I have never felt the crowds were bad. I don't live there, so some of the locals might have a different opinion about it though.

I hope you have a wonderful vacation where ever you choose to go, but for me it will alway's be SoWal!

Oh, and :welcome:.

Compared to St. George Island, yes, you will notice larger crowds (esp. in season) and more construction but nothing like PCB or Destin. It all depends on what you're looking for. My family likes having communities around ... interesting architecture, restaurants and shops a bike ride away. We don't like bungie jumping, fast food and highrises. That's one reason we come here... a nice middle ground. However, if you're looking for quiet isolation, you may be happier on St. George.

The beach is pretty private in my 'hood in Seagrove between One Seagrove Place and about 75 yards west of the Summer's Edge walkover.

You've been gone 4 years. Because of the economy it has slowed down here a bit. This year doesn't seem as slow as last year at Spring Break, so I'm not sure what we are in for during the summer??? It will certainly depend on when you are coming for your vacation. Dune Allen is another spot along 30A that is pretty laid back.

Good Luck!
