Maybe they will one day be able to isolate the selfish gene in modern human :)

Interesting is that they have discovered that genes from Neanderthals have codes to proteins that activate enzymes that degrade RNA viruses. The Neanderthal genes come from a particular haplotype on chromosome 12. But in some people there also exist a haplotype on chromosome 3 that is responsible for being more vulnerable to RNA viruses. So Neanderthal genes may help or worsen the effects of these viruses. The mysteries of evolution slowly being revealed through genetic research!

I also learned while reading this article that Neanderthals mixed with modern Humans in Europe and Asia but not with modern Humans in Africa. Fascinating stuff with mystery and intrigue and possible clues to our connections to tribalism and socialism...

The study, which will be published March 2 in the Journal of Experimental Medicine (JEM), demonstrates that the drug is safe and effective in rodents and monkeys, paving the way for future clinical trials in humans.
