Upper Respitory infection

I spent 2 lovely weeks at the beach, Saturday morning (the day we were leaving), I woke up coughing and with funk in my lungs. 2 others from our group came home with URI's as well but they left a week before me. I wonder if it's a oil/dispersent related issue? I don't usually get sick in the summer, I don't really get sick very often in general.

Another friend's theory was that my body is rejecting the departure from the beach!

It's been going around SoWal like crazy- and it is not unusual for a bug to go around in the summer, according to our doc (who got sick as well- we probably gave it to him). For many, it took a round of antibiotics to knock out.

I have been living with a bottle of Purell in one hand and orange juice in the other for about 3 weeks now-

Got it while there two weeks ago too! Only one in my group to leave with it, or ever get it as well. But, went away and better now. I agree w/ Jenny, something probably going around sowal. Especially if not everyone is getting it. I did do lots of eating out and such, prime targets for a virus. Hope you feel better now...

My thought too was "who gets sick at the beach?" But, then i thought about all the different people and all the eating out...and shopping and decided it was bound to happen!

I got the worse flu of my life one year after vacationing in Destin about 10 yrs ago. SO BAD! Then my husband got it and my sons - but my 75 year old father didn't - he killed it with Jack Daniels no doubt I was like - this sick from all that sun and fun??

We too caught the crap going around - right after the oil spill - my son arrived with it - Lord, we probably started the entire SoWal epidemic!! Took a little while to get it all cleared out - but all is well now. Hope you are strong soon!!!

I started antibiotics this afternoon and had already started Mucinex on Saturday night with lots of fluids. Glad to hear it's going around-not for others but I was a little worried! I ate out and/or went shopping every day so I certainly came into contact with lots of folks! I was trying to do my best to pump money into the local economy!!

My son who lives there has been sick for close to two weeks. Finally, antibiotics kicked in or he's just wearing it out. Said today his throat is not hurting so much, still has the cough.Hope you all get well soon.

I don't think it's oil related, but one of our Vegan posters has moved south claiming that she is more sensitive to the oil. :roll:

I think it might be going around. I woke up this morning with a sore throat and running a small fever, Ugh, I cannot get sick this week.

We have a lot of crud going on up here in st louis too. 3 people at work out last week.
