Vehicle Beach Permits - Renewal Period

New posts
I like the current system also. the county had to make a decision and they did.people on this board had plenty of warning a deadline was coming. as the years go on and attrition hits the permits they should reopen to issue more permits at intervals.WITHOUT BEACH PARKING ON GRYATON THE TOWN WOULD DIE DUE TO ALMOST NO ABILITY TO PARK.those who have permits and keep them renewed are grandfathered. but there will be natural lose yearly and at some pt the county should reopen to new people.

I know more than one party who bought SUVs this year for the sole purpose of driving on the beach. They meet all criteria except having had a permit last year. They're bummin'! I would be too. Oh well...

I feel lucky to have mine for at least another year...

Pls help by contacting your Commission ers

Scooterbug,
You seem logical and involved. Please contact your commissioner by e-mail
or phone or in person to share your desires for more passes to open up. They need to hear this from more people. Thanks

There is not a waiting list - they just stopped issuing NEW permits and put further restrictions on it due to the numbers/crowding.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will be new permits issued in the future years as the criteria and lack of renewals makes the number of permit holders decrease.

I don't want more passes right now. The new regs are specifically because of too many cars there.

The commissioners have already stated they will revisit/revise the policy in the future. Let the numbers go down, then complain.

Don't worry, according to one of our posters you just post your wish here and it magically comes true.

I would love to have someone answer the question as to why the cut off date for renewals was January 12th instead of June 1st like it always was. I had a permit that expired on June 1, 2009. I went to renew the permit in early February 2010 and was told I could not renew even though I had a permit from the previous year.

I would be willing to renew every year to keep the privilege, but I am irate over the fact the cut off date was just some arbitrary date in January. I know that is when the STUPID ordinance was passed, but why not keep the renewal date in June like every year!!!

Also, someone previously mentioned that the permit issue is was going to be revisited in October of this year. Anyone know if this is true?

I think they were trying to catch those who were not paying close attention off guard. I am afraid this old tradition in Grayton is going to be moth-balled soon. No increases in the numbers of permits are forthcoming from what I understand. No matter how loud you howl.

cool breeze you let your permit expire. if you had renewed your sticker by aug 2009 it would have been no problem. the jan 12th had nothing to do with it. under the new law if you let it expire you lose it for good no questions asked.
