http://content.usatoday.com/communi...1/06/sarah-palin-paul-revere-midnight-ride-/1 By Catalina Camia, USA TODAY Sarah Palin apparently flubbed details of Paul Revere's famous midnight ride when she visited Boston yesterday.

The former Alaska governor, who may or may not be running for the GOP presidential nomination, thought Revere was warning the British army during the Revolutionary War.

Here's the transcript, from New York magazine, of what she told reporters who were trailing her on her bus tour of historical sites:

He who warned, uh, the … the British that they weren't gonna be takin' away our arms, uh, by ringin' those bells and, um, by makin' sure that as he's ridin' his horse through town to send those warnin' shots and bells that, uh, we were gonna be secure and we were gonna be free … and we were gonna be armed.

Revere was, in fact, riding from Boston to Lexington to warn John Hancock and Samuel Adams of the approaching British army.

The blogosphere is having a field day with this one. ThinkProgress is panning Palin's description of this historic event. Mediaite spotlighted this for folks.

OMG. When I saw this video on CNN, I just shook my head. Anyone with any sense at all knows that if you don't know the answer, you don't make up an answer -- you speak in generalities or say "I'll get back to you with an answer." Obviously the latter can't be done by a presidential candidate.

And Obama thought we were in 2008 last month and Biden thinks there are three letters in the word 'jobs'. This is stupid, of course she is dingy, and none are immune as best as I can tell.

No, this is well beyond brain fart. You don't warn the British that the British are coming. Sounds like she viewed it as more of an offensive action whereas I always viewed it as kind of defensive. Kind of a stealthy undercover warning type of thing. That was the whole gist of it. Otherwise it would have been the broad daylight noon ride of Paul Revere. Sounds like she's trying to rewrite history in order to appeal to the red meat don't blink second amendment remedy folk. That and she's really ****ing stupid.

The worst trait about this media whore is she will make a stupid statement like this and then blame the "lamestream" media for calling her out on it. She doesn't like being asked questions that require facts about history or current affairs. Her answers need to contain phrases like "hard working Americans" or "the backbone of our nation" or "here in the heartland" (makes no difference where she is for this answer) and my favorite "real Americans".

Will her version of Paul Revere's ride be in the new Texas school books?

I don't know who this Paul Revere guy is, or why he wants to beat up the British with Texas school books, but regardless of that, he makes some damn fine pots and pans that you can buy at Wal-Mart!

Someone needs to check this out...I fully believe that this woman has had more threads on SoWal.com than any other subject! UGH...I am praying she will jsut go away.

The fact is, her grasp of history is probably comparable to the average American's. The only thing that saved us from true illiteracy was schoolhouse rock:lol::lol:
