weekend getaway suggestion

Beach Fanatic
I am planning a weekend away soon. My girls are in NC and I am in middle TN. The halfway point for us is Atlanta or the mountains. We aren't huge hiking people so I am not sure about the mountains althougth we do love the water so a lake would be nice. What places would you suggest if we met in the mountains? What area of Atlanta if we went there? We do enjoy eating and shopping, but I like quiet and calm as well. Gatlinburg is too crazy for me so I need a quieter area in the mountains. If you have any good ideas or suggestions on a weekend getaway, please share them. Thanks

I'd call the Ritz-Carlton Buckhead directly (not the Ritz-Carlton generic number), see if they have any weekend packages (especially one that includes club level - free breakfast, snacks, wine/beer). Without driving, you could eat lunch at Houston's (I recommend the grilled chicken salad) and have dinner at Bluepointe. And you could shop at Lenox and Phipps! That'd help your empty nest blues. :)

I'm going through that right now, so I feel your pain. Seriously.

Oh yeah, that is a great place...love the waterfront view :rolling:

Oh, don't make me cry! Baby boy goes back to college tomorrow. And I feel like I am living on borrowed time with baby girl not far behind. :( :( :(

Oh, wait! That means weekend trips in the offing!! Big time payback for having spent the better part of my life turning my two progeny into fine upstanding young citizens!

I think BR's suggestion of a weekend package at the Ritz wonderful. You could go to Atlanta's new aquarium--it's already gotten good SoWal reviews. :clap_1: There's lots of good dining in the city, too, as an added yum yum bonus.

A well deserved reward, I am certain. Give lots of hugs to that boy
