The working conditions Americans enjoy were brought about by the hard work of Unions not by the goodwill of employers. This is a straight up FU to workers.

This ruling affects government employees. The ruling does not prohibit an employee from joining a (private) union, but gives an employee the OPTION to opt-in(key). What's been going on is that public employees have been assessed union dues whether wanted to be assessed or not. Further, those unions by and large contributed to Democratic candidates. What if someone is a Libertarian, an Independent, or just is not political at all?

In the case of Mark Janus, he was being forced to pay $535/year to a union that he did not want to belong to and that did not speak for him. A violation of the First Amendment is how the SCOTUS saw this. It was a win for individual liberty IMO and that's always a good thing.

Unions bargain for all the workers not just members. States have recognized and defended an agency fee for years. Why should non members be able to enjoy the benefits for free? Make no mistake, this is a Republican dream of union busting. Businesses band together in trade groups to lobby congress while the only voice a worker has is their union and no Republican will support union membership.
Do yourself a favor and research the Republican platform of 1956 and compare that to today's party of tRump.
