To be fair the "me first" group has been part of our society since well before even Ayn Rand's philosophy of "objectivism". Western philosophy is considered "individualism" which is almost the opposite of Eastern Philosophy which is considered "collectivism". Individual rights versus the rights of the collective. Our young generation not only believes in individualism it is all they have ever known. It was up to us parents to teach them personal sacrifice but we did just the opposite. Regardless of where this inability to make an individual sacrifice for the greater good comes from it is wrong in my book.

The East is a big and varied place. Doing what's right for the greater good is often to avoid shame to yourself and your family.
I agree with you but the reality is there are a lot of people in society who are entrenched in the belief that the greater good begins with being good to self. The philosophy is that if you do not take care of yourself first then you are no good to the collective. So when you look at it from a philosophical perspective truth is hard to pin down. Therefore it is best to consult your conscience if you got one or haven't sold it yet

As I no longer am a public servant of the people of the Walton and SoWal communities, I feel very free to say the following: Yes. But, what I find nearly as painful as being force fed a new SCOTUS Justice while any of my American sisters and brothers are voting, literally at this moment, for the functional leadership of our country, is being repeatedly told by Republican (no such thing anymore*) friends, acquaintances and strangers that "It's a free society. It's my body so it's my choice whether or not wear a mask."
The first 11 words of the former sentence represent the stance already decided by SCOTUS in Roe v Wade. Whether ACB helps overturn this established law or succeeds in severely limiting women's accessibility, we all lose a measure of freedom. As a member of your so-called blew krew (though admittedly no longer a Walton resident), I will think of you each and every time one of your rights are stripped (thanks to AOC and CT, neither of whom IMHO should be in their positions), inevitabilities now, regardless of who wins the bid for the presidency). May God protect all of us from those who wish to pass personal judgement and deprive us of our free will and our rights to meet and be judged by our Maker based on how we, each and every individual, applies that very same free will.
* I propose Trump Republicans rename their party HypoTrumpCrits to honor the Deceiver-in-Chief, their brainwasher and hoax (his favorite word, not mine) of a leader and stop piggybacking on the label 'Republican' that at one time, at least, stood for decent ideals, though not all with which I happen to agree.
