I don't use it, but those who do would most likely defend it very strongly. I know someone who would have lost his house without it because of huge medical bills.

I don't have it because I am fortunate thar I have insurance through my employer. That said I also deal with a lot of folks who don't have insurance. I also interact with a lot of folks who are on medicaid and medicare and even with all the headaches they have I would say they appreciate having the coverage they have.
