What do you do with a drunken lawyer?

I think this might just produce some good jokes but it is not funny at all.
I'm not going to say who our lawyer WAS but yesterday we went to see him at our appointed time. He came out, greeted us like he had not seen us in a year (which is about what it has been), asked us to wait a in the lobby for a minute while he finished with another client. When he finished he came out and greeted us again like he had not seen us in a year. We went back to his office and watched dumbfounded as he repeatedly picked up the phone, tried to dial, tried to hang it up, put his feet on his desk, sat back up, tried the dialing again, left to go downstairs, came back in, started the dialing thing again, picked up our paperwork, set it down and started the cycle over again. He was so messed up he could not focus his eyes on us or speak clearly. Our legal advice was to file the motion ourselves by simply typing "I object to this and my lawyer is ________, send all papers to him."
What the??????? We are dumbfounded.
I did come home and do some quick learning on how to file a response to a petition to relocate with minor children but we are still looking for a good custody lawyer who doesn't drink or do drugs and isn't going to bankrupt us.

I will accept any great punchlines, free legal advice and attorney recommendations you got.

 That is scary

I do have to say that I have learned that there is more going on than meets the eye. In addition to battling addiction, I understand he had been dealing with more than most people could handle during the past couple of years. Looks like it has all snowballed on him.
