I keep hearing on radio/tv people talking about how they want a change with this upcoming election. What change are you wanting with the new presidency?

I want to be able to deduct the finance charges from my credit cards from my taxes like "back in the day." Like that'll ever happen.

More important, I want everyone to be able to get health insurance at a cost that isn't insanely expensive, regardless of pre-existing conditions.

good question rebecca.

well, for me, I would like positive change in these areas:

  • party change & real leadership in the white house.
  • An extraordinary leader who can bring about positive change through unity (without unity we will not be able to accomplish positive change in any meaningful way).
  • education in America - real goals - not slogans and tests. This country's future depends on the education of children.
  • strengthen global image, a big re-do on the military, and make a real commitment for freedom and peace.

My idea of change would be to elect someone who would at least try to slow down out of control spending. How can we survive by just printing more money and taxing more every time someone gets a new idea that will appeal to their constituents. The government has totally f'd up social security, medicare, medicaid and pretty much every thing else they get involved in. Do we really need a department of education as it exists now? How about a Department of Agriculture employee for every 2 farmers in the United States? The list goes on. I've got a great idea. They've done so well in these areas, lets give them an even bigger boondoggle, uh I mean project to do. How about socializing medicine? I bet they will get it right with this one.
And Beach Runner, if you think that we will ever have affordable health care without first doing something about tort reform, then you need to think again. It's absolutely sickening that the slimeball John Edwards stands up and champions the cause of providing healthcare for poor people because its too expensive(insurance companies fault) when in fact, he is a major part of the problem.

I am totally out of my area of expertise. All I know is that I don't want people to choose between living or having any quality of life because they can't get (due to pre-existing conditions) or afford health insurance.

When you live in a small town with a 40% illiteracy rate, you get it. People can't afford to go to the doctor, so they get critical and end up in the ER at the local hospital. The queue is incredibly long. People who have acute problems are delayed because of the queue ahead of them is filled with people who should have been seen at a regular physician due to minor illnesses but can't afford it.

It's total chaos.:yikes:

So what's your point? Are you saying that what we are experiencing is as good as it gets?
