Today, I hear that it cost more than 1 cent to make a penny and it cost more than 5 cents to produce a nickel.

I guess it is time to start saving pennies and nickels.

Maybe the USA could get China to produce our money for cheap.

I already do...and quarters and dimes too. I have one of those big glass water jugs. We all throw our loose change in there everday. We usually count it about once a year. We up well over $500 right now. It really does add up!!!!

I read an article where someone talked about getting rid of the penny, and that made sense to me, until someone said that as a result state sales tax would end up going up to 10 percent ... because there was no way they would drop it down to 5 percent. :shock: Or I guess they could keep it at 7 percent and just round every transaction up to the nearest .05. Odd though ... hard to imagine ... I like the idea of minting it in China better.
