When is missing, actually missing?

I also understood from the Superintendent Tuesday that when the bus driver shuts down the bus at the end of their route, a buzzer goes off that can only be disable by the driver physically walking to the back of the bus to the door and turning it off. It is a safety measure to prevent the bus driver from leaving the bus without walking to the back of the bus to make sure no child is "left behind." I know that every year, especially at the beginning of the school year, a child will fall asleep on the bus and ride it to the end of the route or to the bus barn. The parents are then called and the child is either picked up or delilvered to their stop. I really don't know the particulars of this instance this year, but, student safety should always be the drivers' first concern.

I find it much more worrisome that a kid doesn't arrive at their designated after school program and noone notices! A longer ride on the bus is minor, but an after school program that doesn't note which kids arrive isn't doing a very good job of monitoring them IMO.

On the flip side, wasn't a bus driver recently criticized for being a busybody because she tried to make kids get off at their correct stop because they didn't have a note?

Isn't that policy?:idontno:

In regards to Sharon Roberts comment concerning students left on the bus, it sounds like she doesn't bother to check her facts before she spouts off at the meetings, surely the Superintendent could give her that information if she would have just asked. Whenever I have needed information I simply call the Superintendent rather than take it to a board meeting, she has always been available to answer my questions.
