Male spawn is figuring out that he has two more years before the parental cash flow stops! He saw how serious we are with his sis....of course, she is now going back to grad school, but for 1 1/2 years so far, she has been responsible for her bills and on her salary....it's a brutal wake up call! Right Kimmi?

Hey J-Funn.

I moved to the city and was making 23k. Tell me how you cover rent of 1k a month when you're making that. Huh? Ole Gussy picked up the bill till this year. And a few cc bills. I had to call Deb and tell her that my cell got cut off. She paid it, but this is after 3 whole months of "independence" so she took care of it.

Gussie says it's not my fault, that it's his fault. That he didn't raise me right.. :funn: Fine with me!

In reality...I would not be able to function. And I worked too many hours for a second job. What do you do? I'm bankrolling now and they don't get the call for rent at the end of every month anymore. Good thing...I'm about to be 26! :clap_1:

I think ours will go to med or grad school just so she can keep the parental $$$$$ supporting the lifestyle to which she has become accustomed. I, on the other hand, paid my own way through graduate school as a TA even though my mother could afford to pay for it. She's the type that forever would have reminded me that I couldn't have gotten a Ph.D. if it weren't for her, as if studying my a$$ off to get it had nothing to do with it, so I proved that I could do it on my own.

Yeah...we have only ourselves as parents to blame sometimes! If your mother would have held that over your head (and many do!)...you were wise to do it on your own! There is a fine line between "giving" to our children and then expecting them to be self sufficient. We are still experimenting somewhat...have had to bail female spawn out of some HORRENDOUS cell phone bills...but she also has learned a whole lot about money not growing on trees!
