some may say that humans are the smartest animals, but I don't know why. Perhaps it is due to our potential. I think the smartest animals are the ones which most easily adapt to their environment, so that would eliminate most of us given today's societal pressures and constraints. We animals have become too accustomed to not thinking, believing that not thinking and doing is something that we should hold in high esteem.

The word "smart" is too vague in such a question for me to intelligently answer.
