Why do they always pick the real winners to interview after tornados?

I remember when I was in the 5th grade up in SE Georgia, I had a teacher who had a particularly pronounced southern accent. A nighttime tornado wiped out the portable classrooms that we held class in, and they put her on the news the next morning...
"It's GAWN! It's AAAAAALLLLLLLLL GAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAWN!"

What's hilarious is the guy's damage assessment - he was about to eat a burger and it just took it.
