Wild weather

New posts
Reporting live here from the Midwest (he he): A tornado and/or tornado force winds came through our area this afternoon. We were at the mall at the time, there was a flurry of commotion because they'd been alerted about the weather headed our way. Then all the power went out, we could hear lots of noise outside and hail falling like crazy. Then people ran down from the upstairs of one of the stores, saying broken glass was flying everywhere, I saw one woman bleeding.
We waited it out safely in the mall, then walked outside to see devastation everywhere; part of the roof of the mall had broken off, the debris was everywhere, including on top of cars. Driving home, I was just amazed--buildings with no intact windows, a line of telephone poles as far as we could see, snapped in half. A parking lot with not a single car with windows left, debris on top of all the cars. Construction materials all over the place, a corner section of a building torn off and thrown across the highway. More uprooted trees than I could count.
We came home to find damage in our neighborhood, but our house isn't damaged, even though things just down the street from us are a mess. Our friends had a tree fall on their wrought iron fence and it took out a section. Feel like we were in the middle of something horrible but came out safe and sound!

Glad to hear you're safe, Pea. What a bullet to dodge, windows breaking at the mall and everything! Hope no one was hurt. Keep us up on it, (though I imagine we'll be hearing about this on the news somewhere tonight.)

I would imagine you will. We were calling our relatives, and no one had heard it yet. Even listening to the news in the car as we drove through the mess, the reports were only saying vague things about the bad weather. Guess the info just hadn't made it out yet.

That's wild PP! I am so glad all the Peas are OK!

Wow! Y'all really know how to celebrate Mr. Pea's birthday! Go out during a tornado! Glad you are OK. ( BTW- Happy Birthday to our favorite rock dude !!! :clap_1: )

I'm watching the radar right now- it will be here in about an hour. Now I am really scared!

Glad your safe and your home did not suffer major problems....

Those storms are so much worse to me because you have no warning. While hurricanes are terribly destrcutive, at least you can get to safety. The storms are suppose to be here tonight....do so dislike going to be d with tornado watches....but i have to work tomorrow. :bang:

Love your tar imasunbun.....what kind of pup?

Thank god you are ok Peapod!!!! That must be such a scary thing to go through! Tornados have always scared me because even though you have heard the weather is conducive to tornados...you never really know if one will hit near, or upon you. Living in Atlanta, we had tornado watches all the time...I was always afraid for my children at school!

true...but on the converse side...hurricane damage is widespread...tornado is a more confined area...but devestasing none-the-less!!!
