Our tentative plan is to meet her during her spring break in March, so I think city/country choices are open. I will have her email the cities..the first itinerary only lists the countries. I do not think she has much free time when the class is in session unlike other programs she looked into doing. Just so overwhelming since know very little about the best places to visit.

Cil, your suggestions on Crete are interesting...never thought about it much as I haven't heard much about it.. BR, Italy is a good option. Any good books to use for travel suggestions? I looked in the bookstore and there were too many to make an intelligent choice. We aren't people who love huge crowds, and enjoy the beauty of the area ( why we love SoWal), but feel the need to do some tourist type places. I am certain it will be a once in a lifetime, chance so I want to do it right.

If you have never traveled abroad, I would stick to Italy or France when she is there. Egypt's pyramids are spectacular and a trip to remember, but the culture shock would be too much for a first time traveler.

Greece was amazing and very friendly...but I was in the islands. I don't know about the mainland. Italy was amazing ...Naples and Florence.... But I loved the Amalfi Coast!
I have always wanted to go to Egypt..I have a friend from there that I may try to talk him into going there with me some day....
