A Santa Rosa Beach woman is in critical condition following a wreck just before midnight Sunday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 98 and County Road 283.
Natlie Pearson, who is 48, was traveling into the intersection when her vehicle was stuck on the left side by a 2002 Ford F150, according to the Florida Highway Patrol media release.
The driver of the truck told the trooper he had failed to stop for the red light due to the wet roadway. James Rufus Garner, a 30-year-old Panama City man, was not injured. Neither was his passenger, Michelle D. Meyers, also of Panama City.
Pearson had to be extricated by firefighters, the release said. She was initially taken to Sacred Heart Hospital in Santa Rosa Beach and then later transported to Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor. Charges are pending, the release said.
