Beach Lover
Good Morning Everyone!
I am teaching ashtanga yoga at The Studio in Seaside on Monday and Wednesday mornings at 7:30am. This year, I'm dedicating the classes to The Lighthouse Family Retreat and will take only donations for classes.
The Lighthouse Family Retreat group is a fabulous idea that is about 10 years old now, and brings families to the beach for a week free of charge. The only qualification is that the family have a child with terminal cancer. This is a time for the family to be waited on, hand and foot, have fun, relax and connect.
Last year, I was honored to photograph many of the families. Actually, in the two separate sessions that came, I photographed 28 families. It was my goal to raise the funds to put all the photographs in albums for each family. Being in the situation with a sick child, I decided a printed album would be more usable for the family than just a CD. The album could be carried to doctor's appointments or hospital stays and memories could be seen right away. I raised enough money to cover the cost of 6 albums. I am only talking about the cost of the lab, nothing else. I covered shipping, the price of CDs and props.
The Studio is a co op teaching space and I will be taking care of my responsibilities to the owner first, and all monies after that will go directly to the Lighthouse photography albums.
In preparation for families coming in the summer of 2011, I am going to offer this. So, come work out, stretch, bend, balance and let's see if we can get all the families albums this year!
Tell your friends! Tell strangers! And just come on! Don't worry if you've not stepped onto a yoga mat before. Everyone can do something.
I look forward to meeting you!
blessings,
valerie
