Whats the fastest way to Niceville?

New posts
I left Dune Allen Sunday morning at 9:30 to pick up my wife on Holiday Isle. I kid you not when I tell you it took me almost 35 minutes to get from the 393/98 intersection to the turn that takes you to the Mid-Bay bridge. In that amount of time, I could have been well west of Freeport, almost to Niceville.

Okay. I've actually compared the milage before...I know...I'm a geek. To get to my house in Peach Creek, the Freeport way is 8 miles longer than the Destin way. It is the "shorter" way sometimes though, depending on the traffic. Shallowsnole I made that drive, too when I went to OWCC and it is excruciating. I take the Mid-Bay bridge way unless it's in the middle of summer. Then I go Freeport way.

If your coming back I'd go the 331/20 route and stop at Nick's in the sticks for dinner.

Best and only use I have for 20, ever. I am an expert (or maybe just experienced) in the VPS run, but I can only speak for the months of April, early May, October and early November. I tried the 331/20 route a couple of times and found it the longest trip of my life and I worried the entire time I was going to be late. I would NEVER do it after dark. I always wish I had a toll tag, but never investigated if I would qualify.

There is no 'qualify' for Sun Pass. Pay the fee for a transponder or one of the new bar codes, put like $25 in the account, and you're good to go for $1.50 bridge tolls.

...thanks! I was thinking you might need a FL tag.

331/20 end of April thru October then 98. Just my way of thinking about the traffic on 98; that gives me traffic heebee jeebies.

I always go via 331/20 just because it's a prettier drive and Destin traffic is so unpredictable.

Last week I did Seagrove to VPS and back in 2 hours going the speed limit, but that was from 3:30-5:30 am so traffic was rather light.

Lord no, they sell them at Publix now. ;-)

For real...like at the WC Publix? I remember someone telling me only the Publix across from Destin Commons sold them. This is exciting news! Yes, it doesn't take much to make me giddy these days!
