Deer Hunting in SoWal

New posts
My family hunts - eat what they kill. Have actually called on me for my Bloodhound a couple of times when the deer was wounded, but not killed. I resisted and insisted on an orange vest for The General as he could pass for a small deer for a trigger happy hunter. They thought I was being ridiculous........

I have hit three deer while driving (breaks my heart every time) and this is one main reason we have a long open season in the SE. I have decent aim, went out once with my brothers with perfume on and they just about shot me. I enjoy tracking and seeing how beautiful the creatures are. And, yes, I eat venison. Yum, yum - but, I don't want to know about the slaughtering, etc.

Bow Season is the favorite in my family. My cousins leave Boxing Day every year for AR (pheasant) - they love it and fill the freezers!

Thanks for your interesting post! You are a woman of many talents/likes!

I saw a deer last night with a rack on 83! SO glad he didn't run out in road!

Nighty night!

Last night I cooked a small deer roast my former brother in law left for me. When I lived up at the farm we processed our own deer, and of course no fat added to the ground meat. If you are going to eat meat, I agree, venison is the way to go. My BIL also left me beef grown on the farm. Free range beef!! Nothing like it. Dangit, I miss the farm, but not the husband!!!

Hi there. Not sure if this thread would be in this location but whatever

I've got a 25 yr old son who wants to either deer hunt (never hunted before but is a good shot) OR purchase deer meat including organs - that has not been mixed with any beef fat.

Just wanted to see what is going on in the area for beginning hunters and also see if there is a supplier of wild game for those who do not hunt but want to purchase meat that hasn't been raised in factory farms and then shipped to grocer's shelves.

Thanks for any help.

Hi Gidget. I wanted to give you this link to Walton Outdoors - a nice article I ran across recently about hunting in Florida, with links to documents, state sites, etc.

We can still reply and even offer our opinion. At least, last time I checked.:idontno:
:floor:Whether you like it or not every American has the right to purchase a hunting license and harvest game. Gidget didn't say she was going to have her son shoot the deer in your backyard, and there is a massive overpopulation of deer in the Southeastern U.S. In case you didn't realize, this thread was posted under the sports and recreation section where it belongs...as for your post, not so much.
