Some numbers on the Senate Health Care Bill

New posts
I disagree, there may be some disparity over the short term, but over the long term the same market forces at work today that define your pay rate would kick in.

You might be right that the price could even out over a few years but for those years individuals would foot the bill. Nice of you to help me out by removing a few of my dollars from my wallet.

The feds have to finance this somehow. Money doesn't grow on trees. Employees who enjoy employer plans will have to kick-in some of the cost of insuring the uninsured. This will also help push costs down as employers will no longer have the incentive of giving part of an employees pay in the form of healthcare dollars.

You are absolutly right the feds will pay for this with my money. Thanks for pointing this out and voluntering my money to pay for others. Now to help me recover from this I will send you a bill that increases as the government takes more money from me. Don't worry if you die I will just send the bill to your spouse or children I am sure that since you don't mind taking money from me that you wan't mind me taking yours.

I am sorry for the sarcasm but when someone takes money from me for the betterment of others I get a little miffed.

OK. I think I understand what you are saying. Life expectancies/mortality tables are based upon all data inclusive of disease, right? And, are also averages.

I just took this little test; my life expectancy is 105. I am not changing anything.....keeping all of my habits. Interesting!

I'm also saying that if someone you love were to live another five years instead of dying today, that would be a lot of time to get to spend with that person. Six months or a year, not so much.

Long term vs. short term solutions, take your pick.

I am the federal government, if I say your money is mine for the taking so that I can give it to someone else who I feel is more deserving than you, you will simply have to deal with it.

But it's for the betterment of others at your expense, what's the problem?

Don't forget, we are talking about averages here.

I'm not trying to engage in a website pissing contest. My point is to counter the claims of the US having "the best medical care in the world" along with all the other "we are number one" nonsense. I wish we were at the top of every list of things that are good and positive but the reality is we are not and repeatedly stating we are will not make it come true. If we admit our faults only then can we work to achieve the number one spot on these lists.

Cato's research on that ten year old study by the WHO didn't claim the U.S. was first in anything, it critiqued the methods the organization used to come up with its rankings. Liberals throw that study around (which FYI, WHO stopped producing due to inherent complexities in producing such lists) as proof we need a massive overhaul of our existing system. So I think Cato's analysis of their research is valid and useful.

Yes, I agree. Most of the data I found was through CIA World Facts.....however, it probably isn't accurate either. For instance, I would go out on a limb and suggest by reasonable deduction that the data of China's life expectancy isn't a solid two years longer than the second place country. This, quite simply based upon how they have been known to lie, etc., and other countries are only a few months apart on this. Just a thought that occurred to me~~~~~~~~~~

However, if they are on avg. living to be 84, more power to those commies!

It's all the ping-pong.
