These are Not Good Reasons to be Against Health Insurance Reform

New posts
I think any decent person would agree that health care should be accessible for everybody and in many ways some of it is but it is not taken advantage of. When I say that there are many forms of health care in my community that are offered such as our free clinic, free mammograms, free skin cancer screenings, free hearing screenings, vaccinations at our health department, etc. I have talked to people who have insurance and go to the health department for their children's vaccinations because it costs less than their co pay. My point being there is so much in place now that people could use but how do we educate the populace to know what is out there. Not everyone is proactive. I think everyone forgets that there is a huge part of this that people forget and that is the the providers. Not all providers are getting rich providing health care. Quite the contrary. Physicians are getting out of private practice because they are tired of dealing with the regulatory issues put upon them by the government. As reimbursements decrease, regulatory requirements increase costing more money to the providers. I am supportive of help for everyone but I am hoping that our government will go back to the drawing board and think this through appropriately so that everyone may benefit.

Groovy. No, I haven't read it. Have you? Nor have I based my opinion on the insurance industry lobbying, GOP or Teabaggers. Right now, our politicians NEED to listen to the American People.

So you have no real information about the bill, but you're against it?

Have you contacted one of your representatives to tell them you're against it? I've contacted mine to let them know I'm for it. Oddly those "idiots in Washington" follow what people tell them. Most representatives are given a daily breakdown of contacts from constituents and they generally vote accordingly if they want to get re elected. You can site all the polls you want, but apparently America wants this.

OK.

Says the guy from the state with universal health care.

Maybe he's speaking from experience? The current health bills are modeled after Massachusetts system. How is MA's universal coverage system doing you might ask?
  1. premiums have risen by more than twice the national average.
  2. government costs have risen by almost 10% a year, way above what was originally esitmated.
  3. consumer choice is becoming increasing restricted.
  4. wait times for care have increased.
Maybe we should listen to this guy, he's quite familiar with the successes and failures of the system they'll likely vote on tomorrow.

Just got off the phone with my Aunts. One is a nurse in a mental health hospital and the other is a social worker. Both were stunned when I asked them about these stats you listed. Both also stated quite clearly that universal health care in Massachusetts has been a god send, especially for the poor and under privileged.

I think I posted the MA stats a few months ago, but I can't remember which thread. I think I also posted OR stats. Coverage provided to those who truly need assistance is nothing but a God-send.

It looks like as of now, there are enough votes to pass, but they have halted on Deem and Pass, which is causing some upheaval. However, Americans are very split and too close to determine true numbers, but are very vocal in DC right now as to whether they want or do not want.

Thirty-six states (Dem and Rep governed) are seeking legal relief for rights and how far the Fed can go with legislation like this. If you think about this and take healthcare out of the title, the Feds are attempting to strip States' Rights.

If this does pass, I predict an amendment for states to provide coverage for all and supersede Fed Law, which is exactly how this should be handled. Follow the guidelines and receive federal funding.

More to come on this massive monolithic pivotal point in our legislative history. Great news on coverage for all starting 2014.

Maxine on Healthcare:

Let me get this straight......
we're trying to pass a health care plan written by a committee whose chairman says he doesn't understand it,

passed by a Congress that hasn't read it but exempts themselves from it,

to be signed by a president that also hasn't read it and who smokes,

with funding administered by a treasury chief who didn't pay
his taxes,

all to be overseen by a surgeon general who is obese,

and financed by a country that's broke.

What the h*ll could possibly go wrong?
